A volcanic
wonder

A crown jewel of the Great Rift Valley, the Ngorongoro Crater, is a colossal spectacle, spanning 265 square kilometers. From above, it resembles a verdant bowl, a tapestry of greens woven over 2.5 million years since its formation. Lush forests and thickets blanket the slopes and floor, punctuated by the shimmering blues of rivers and lakes. Perched on the very edge of this natural wonder lies the Ngorongoro Crater Lodge, a veritable kingdom of roses.

The lodge blends rustic ethnic charm with baroque opulence. Antique crystal chandeliers dangle from soaring, vaulted banana-leaf ceilings. Raw silk drapes frame floor-to-ceiling windows. Teak paneling and antique furnishings mingle with crafted statuettes and vases. A large English-style fireplace chimney juts from the thatched roof. And everywhere, roses of every hue and size reign supreme.

The Ngorongoro Crater teems with wildlife, home to about 30,000 animals. Elephants, black rhinos, hippos, lions, leopards, buffalo, antelope, and zebras roam. Over 100 bird species, including a vibrant population of pink flamingos, grace the skies.

Beyond the breathtaking safari experiences, guests can indulge in a gourmet lunch on the crater floor, rejuvenating massages with natural essential oils, captivating Maasai drumming performances, jewelry-making workshops, romantic rose-petal-strewn dinners, and excursions to Olduvai Gorge, Lake Eyasi, and Empakai Crater (the latter a challenging but rewarding hike). While these bespoke experiences come at an additional cost, they are worth it.
